11/26/2012 - TORRANCE, Calif. In the wake of devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, American Honda announced a pledge of $500,000 to the American Red Cross - Disaster Relief Fund, for use during humanitarian relief and recovery efforts in areas affected by the storm.
"This giant storm hit many areas particularly hard, and Honda wants to support the many individuals and families devastated by the hurricane's impact," said Tetsuo Iwamura, president and chief executive officer of American Honda Motor Co., Inc., and chief operating officer of Honda's North American region. "As we have in responding to past natural disasters, supporting the Red Cross is an effective way to quickly reach the front lines."
The Honda donation consists of cash as well as Honda products including portable generators and water pumps for use in the relief and rebuilding efforts. A special company fund will match its associates' personal contributions to the Red Cross on a dollar-for-dollar basis at various Honda companies.
This donation represents the collective contribution of the Honda family of companies and its associates in the U.S. and Canada, which consists of sales, manufacturing, finance and research and development operations, with more than 33,000 associates. Contributions from Honda's operations in Canada will be made to the Canadian Red Cross.
In addition, Honda Financial Services is instituting a number of measures to provide relief to customers directly affected by the storm, including temporary adjustments to policies on fee payments, late credit bureau reporting, extensions of loan payments, waivers of late charges and other services when appropriate.
Honda has been in close communication with the Red Cross regarding its need for material and equipment. The company has a longstanding relationship with the Red Cross and has supported the emergency relief organization in previous disaster relief efforts through cash, product and in-kind donations. 5 Ways to Winterize Your Vehicle
Though parts of the East Coast have already been hit with its first snow-storm of the year, soon most of America will walk in a winter wonderland, but driving through it could prove a challenge. Since nothing can dampen holidays like car trouble, five steps are recommended to winterize your vehicle that will allow you to get where you're going this holiday season.
"In northern climates, prepping your car for winter is as important as getting the furnace checked," said Andrew Stoy, digital editor for Autoweek Media Group. "Breakdowns and dead batteries are inconvenient, but worn tires and dry-rotted wiper blades can endanger you and your fellow motorists." For cars driven daily, shopautoweek.com recommends checking:
Tires: Summer heat plays havoc on tires and tends to wear them more than cold or wet driving. With slippery conditions on the way, make sure to check tread depth so tires are winter ready.
Wheel alignment: Improperly aligned wheels mean they will point in different directions. If this is the case, your car is less stable in slippery conditions, increasing chances of a spin, or loss of control in snow or on ice.
Transmission fluid: Snow and cold are especially hard on automatic transmissions. If your owner's manual says you're due for a fluid change, now is the time.
Wiper blades: These always seem to go during the first snow or at the beginning of a long trip, smearing dirty slush across your windshield. Replace them before that first flake hits.
Battery: Cold weather takes juice out of batteries like no other weather does. If your battery is more than a couple years old, have it load-tested by a mechanic, and always keep jumper cables stored in the trunk. From shopautoweek.com

Pets in Need - Periwinkle
Four million cats and dogs—about one every eight seconds—are put down in U.S. shelters each year. Often these animals are the offspring of cherished family pets. Spay/neuter is a proven way to reduce pet overpopulation, ensuring that every pet has a family to love them. Many cats and dogs who die as a result of pet overpopulation could have made wonderful pets.
A solution is possible and starts with each of us taking one small step: getting our own pets spayed or neutered. To help stop pet overpopulation further, consider adopting your next pet from an animal shelter.
Bianchi Honda cares about animals, and proudly supports the efforts of the local animal shelters including the A.N.N.A. Shelter and the Humane Society. As animal lovers, we like to do our part by featuring a "Pet In Need" each month in our newsletter.

Zak Stahlsmith is December's Employee Spotlight
Q: Name something people would be surprised to find out about you?A: I was one of my family members that survived the Albion tornado of 1985, which completely destroyed our home. This was a great tragedy, but the memories from this are a constant reminder of how fortunate I am. I live life to the fullest, appreciate what I have, and try not to take any day for granted.
Q: What is your favorite thing about working here?A: It's fun! It's nothing like what most people think of when they think "Car dealership". The company is not into gimmicks and we really believe in helping people. I feel blessed to be part of a company that gives back to its community and employees. I like getting up and going to work and I'm thankful that we have such an amazing culture here. All the employees are passionate and dedicated to their roles while having a sense of ownership for our excellent reputation.
Q: How did you get into the Automotive Industry?A: I've always enjoyed cars - from watching them, driving them, drawing them, and even customizing them when I was a teenager. I have always had a soft spot for Hondas and buy nothing else. I previously worked for a magazine publisher named Jameson Publishing. They went through a difficult time during the recession in 2008 and laid off a large group of employees, including me. After I was laid off, I applied at Bianchi Honda as a "temporary" job. I never really planned on making a career out of cars, but it didn't take long for me to realize that I had found something very special here. My role as eCommerce Director matches my personality and skill set perfectly and I haven't looked back.
Q: What is your favorite hobby?A: I love trying new things, so picking just one "favorite" is impossible for me. Right now, I'm really into mountain-biking, running, weight-lifting, cooking, grilling, camping, kayaking, movies, music, football, chess, fine-dining and the occasional hand-made cigar.
Q: Can you tell me about your family life?
A: I love spending time with my lovely wife, Kaylan, and my awesome 10-year-old son Trystan. Our families have lived around Erie our entire lives and we moved to Fairview five years ago. One of our favorite things to do as a family lately is to go Geocaching. It's a simple hide-and-seek game that you can play using a special app on your smartphone or a gps. People all over the world hide stuff for others to find and it gets you out exploring new places.

Downsize Me - Luke Fosburg's Story of Life Without a Cell Phone
Luke Fosburg, our Customer Care Director, recently went through a huge change in his life. Luke sold his iPhone 4s in preparation to upgrade to the iPhone 5, which wouldn’t be released for another month. He lost communication with the outside world, now being unable to talk or text, function with his apps, and listen to music in his Accord. He has had a wide variety of feelings through his journey. This is his amazing tale of survival…
I would like to preface this story with a brief explanation of why I went an entire month with no cell phone. I would consider myself to be a connoisseur of technology who needs the latest gadgets. With rumors of the iPhone 5 release around the corner and its capabilities with the 2013 Honda Accord, I used my understanding of simple economics to make a hasty decision. I was going to sell my iPhone 4s while the value was high. Soon enough, my phone was on its way to the other side of the country and I was left with nothing…no phone…no communication to the outside world. Most of all, I was going to miss the Bluetooth® in my Accord. I had not planned on what I would do once I shipped off my phone and was reduced to using a broken flip phone found in the back of a kitchen junk drawer.
Upon activating this ridiculously old device, it became apparent that any and all use of this phone would present a substantial challenge, more than likely the reason the previous user chose to upgrade. With an inability to make outgoing calls or send SMS messages, I was limited to the hope that someone would call at the right time so I could make necessary communication. With a brief call to customer service, they told me that a phone number change should fix the outgoing call problem so I gratuitously obliged. With my new phone number I was on my way to a temporary inconvenience that would be soon followed up by pure bliss as the new owner of an iPhone 5. I needed to let all my friends know my new number. As I was calling my wife to let her know all was well in the universe, I discovered that all my contacts had been sent cross country with my iPhone.
Of course this gem of a phone was not capable of syncing contacts with any server such as Gmail or iCloud, so again, I was lost in the midst of a barren wasteland of non-communication. Vaguely remembering her number, I quickly made an outgoing call which as fast as had been dialed, returned an error graciously letting me know this device was not capable of completing such a task.
With no contacts, no way to call, and no one knowing my new phone number, I threw the phone down in disgust and made the decision. There would be no phone at all until I was able to get my prized new iPhone 5. The first day without my window to the world was unbearable. I felt as though I was being punished for a lifetime of crimes with the only worse fate possible being euthanization. I had lost all contact with my Facebook friends, Twitter followers, and most importantly all the apps which run my life, I mean make my life better…
The following week was very difficult. My 16 month old daughter was venturing into the real world for the first time as my wife returned to work. Without constant contact with the daycare I was forced to hope and pray that all was well with my little girl. For the first time in my existence I actually referred to the pictures of my family purposely framed in the corner of my cluttered desk. Wow, “I should update these” I thought to myself as I surveyed the antiquated images covered with a fine layer of dust. The phone had been the only picture frame I needed and the physical pictures were just some type of a forgotten shrine amidst the stacks of paper on my desk that deny my attachment and obsession with work.
With the weekend at hand, I felt the typical Friday enlightened feeling that most of us get and it greatly overshadowed any remaining dissonance the cell phone dilemma was causing. Mid-way through the weekend during some personal reflection time, I realized that I was able to have personal reflection time….WHAT??? The fact that I did not have a cell phone had subliminally given me more free time. Instead of filling my spare minutes and seconds checking my bank account, updating Facebook, and texting; I just stopped. I stopped to reflect on the day and week behind me and to process the flood of information that had been pouring into my life over the last week. As I stared at the wall I noticed that it needed painted, and the cobwebs cleaned from the corner. “When was the last time I looked around my own house?” I thought to myself. What else have I been missing? A couple of quick calculations struck me with a sudden realization that if I spent one minute every hour not on my phone I gain back 700,800 minutes to my life. That’s 11,680 hours, 487 days, or 1.33 years. Wow what a breakthrough! What could I do with an extra year and a half just tacked on to my life? This was the breaking point for me.
PART 2
Over the course of the next two weeks, I slept better with no phone next to me on the charger wondering if someone had sent me an sms or posted something on my Facebook wall. My body used its natural alarm clock instead of relying on the phone to let me snooze my way to a hectic, rushed morning filled with angst and road rage. For once I was able to go uninfluenced by the outside forces in my life working against me. No longer would these problems have an outlet to reach my psyche and cause distress in my life!
This feeling continued for the next two weeks as the connections with my friends slowly died out. I caught myself wondering if any of them would ever forgive me for not responding to their every message and request. I noticed how much closer to my family I was. Each day after work I spent my time playing with my 18 month old daughter and just talking with my wife. My time was spent relaxing and growing closer to my family.
Finally the day came. Apple made the announcement that the iPhone 5 would be released in a week and a half. With an extreme level of excitement, I watched as all the amazing new features of the new iPhone were revealed to the world. I thought to myself how great my life would be again once I got this incredible new device; or would it? All the great new freedom and extra time that had presented itself in my life were competing against my inner need and desire to have the latest and greatest technology. Needless to say I decided to pursue the latter. In anticipation of the release I decided to make life easy for myself and pre-order the iPhone5. Shortly after doing so I discovered that the pre-orders were to be delayed at least one week after the release….THIS WOULD NOT WORK!
I immediately began plotting how I would be able to get the iPhone 5 as soon as possible. After consulting with some friends at the Verizon store I decided I would wait in line early in the morning in order to get my precious new device. As the day approached I tossed around the idea of what time would be best to arrive at the store to wait in line. I sought advice from friends, family, the internet and anywhere else possible. It was official; I would arrive at the store at 4AM. The night before the release I was unable to get any sleep. I stayed awake watching the lines grow at the Apple stores in NYC and other big cities around the world. I thought to myself, what if 4AM is too late. What if there are no phones left? What if I don’t get one? I started to panic…. 12:30 am on September 21st, 2012 was a breaking point for me. I threw on some clothes, grabbed a blanket and folding chair, rushed out the door and jumped into my sleek new Honda Accord coupe. Speeding down the highway in the pitch black I was sure to be early enough to make sure I had a phone reserved for me. As I rounded the corner to Peach street I craned my neck to see the parking lot hundreds of yards up the street…. nothing….light….was there people there already??
I arrived to find a dark vacant parking lot. The lights I saw were coming from the 24 hour McDonalds drive-thru across the street. “Great” I thought. I will be the first in line and will be able to get a phone. I decided to drive across the street to get a #1 and large coffee from McD’s. The food was terrible. Obviously cold from a long wait under the heat lamps, I choked down the rancid burger. I hadn’t realized how hungry I was being that I had not eaten dinner or lunch the day before. As I sat in the parking lot I started to chill. I was glad I had the blanket to wrap myself in. The coffee tasted great and was a pleasure to drink in my freezing car wrapped in a hand knitted blanket my mother had made for me last Christmas. As I finished the coffee I leaned the seat back and started to doze off. The sound of rain on the roof of my Accord was relaxing and soon put me to sleep. I made sure to set an alarm so I would wake to see the other people coming out early in the morning.
Riiiiiiiing…….Riiiiiiiiiing…. argh. My alarm woke me abruptly at 2:30 AM.I popped up my head and looked around. No one yet. I realized I could have gotten more sleep at home. Finally around 4AM a new Mercedes Benz pulled in with and older gentleman inside. We rolled down our windows despite the pouring rain and exchanged greetings and decided we would form a line with our cars in order to avoid the beating rain by standing outside the store.
At 5AM, more people arrived. 6AM, more people. Finally 7AM there were enough people we thought we should form a line outside the store. The rain had cleared and my sporadic sleep left me temporarily refreshed. We all waited outside the store exchanging stories about our previous phones and speculating about all the great features of the new iPhone 5 we all coveted so greatly.
Nothing mattered at this point, I was first in line and nothing could keep me from my beloved iPhone. As the employees arrived at the store they came out to greet us with coffee and doughnuts. They welcomed us and asked how long we had been waiting. Of course I was the only moron who waited the entire morning. Everyone laughed as I told them about my angst and what brought on the early morning drive to Erie.
The doors to the store opened shortly before 8 and we all filed into the store to get our hands on our new phones. My friend Brian had my brand new black 16GB iPhone waiting for me. He held it out for me to behold and I shouted, ”This thing is amazing!” Everyone in the store stirred and had the same remarks upon seeing their devices as well. With my phone activated and working like a well oiled machine I headed off to start my day. I knew this would be a long day running on very little sleep.
So here I am with my new iPhone. The device is spectacular. It does everything a person could ever need. Siri is my new friend after having lost all my tangible real-life friends. My connections are slowly but surely returning after many efforts on Facebook. I have now notified everyone of my number change and communication is returning to normal.
I will say that overall I notice I use my phone much less. I don’t rely on having it every minute of every day. If I accidentally leave it on the couch and head to work I don’t freak out. They say that 21 days breaks a habit. I have definitely become less reliant on my phone. My friends have come to expect that I may or may not respond right away when they send me a message. I have simply rearranged the priorities in my life. Each night is still spent with my family and each spare moment, enjoying the world around me. My advice, a cell phone is a valuable tool but don’t let it rule your life. Do not allow your life to slowly slip by while you are spending every spare minute worrying about what others are doing and saying. Spend time with the things and people that matter and most of all strive to gain wisdom and insight, for no greater things exist.

Hi! My name is Onyx! I came to the A.N.N.A Shelter with my 4 brothers and sisters. We are three month old spayed/neutered Siberian Husky mix puppies! We are lovable babies with lots of energy to share. We love people and get along well with other dogs! We are really little and adorable now, but we are going to be very big and energetic dogs! We will need lots of training to make us well-mannered adult dogs. Because of our breed, we will need tons of exercise as we grow to keep us happy and healthy! Huskies can make wonderful pets if they are properly trained and exercised. Please research the breed before you fall in love!!

Customer Spotlight - November

"Since this is the third Honda we purchased from Bianchi, we can honestly say the experience continues to be as wonderful and positive as the first one. Bill Donor was fantastic! He did not pressure us at all, even though I am sure we gave him a headache or two. We were only ‘looking’ when we first arrived trying to figure out what we would get if we decided to retire our 1998 Honda Accord with 213,000 miles on it. It was hard trying to narrow down which vehicle we would get next. Bill let us test drive any and all cars that we wanted too. Well, the new 2013 Accord EX-L just happened to have come in about two days later and Bill called us right away to come and check it out. All it took was one trial ride and our choice was made. Within a few days, the one we ordered came in and we love it.
We would like to add that one of the MAIN reasons we have stayed with Bianchi's since 1983 is that the Service Department is fantastic. There was no pressure from Bill or Heather, so our entire experience was fantastic. It will certainly take a while to learn a lot of the new things on this car but Bill will be there for us when needed. One last note, we kept our 1998 also for grocery getting and such! Some things are just too hard to give up."
We were thrilled by Carole’s kind words, so we contacted Carole to ask her a few more questions about her experience at Bianchi:
Q: What made you decide on the 2013 Honda Accord?
A: One test ride was all it took for us to decide on the 2013 Honda Accord and ordered one the same day.
Q. What is your favorite thing about your new Accord so far?
A: So many things are our favorite, but first on the list has to be the smooth, quiet ride and comfortable seats. The back up camera is great as it makes it easier to back into our garage. The Lane Departure Warning is fantastic for long distance driving even though we have only used it locally thus far. My husband loves the camera that comes on when making a right turn and shows the blind spot on the navigation screen.
Q: Would you recommend the Accord to your family and friends?
A: We would recommend the Accord to everyone and have already done so to both friends and family.
Q: What was done to make your experience so wonderful?
A: We have had Bianchi Honda cars since 1983 and would not think of going anywhere else. In all these years, we have never once felt any pressure when looking for our car. The hardest and most confusing thing for us is which Honda to buy next! It means a lot when Jason Porreco personally comes up, shakes your hand and thanks you for being a valued customer. Everyone has always been friendly and welcomes you.
Thank you Harlan and Carole for being long-time customers! Congratulations on the brand-new 2013 Accord!

An Aha Moment
Honda is jumping into the in-dash app race with the introduction of an updated HondaLink system for 2013 Accord by partnering with Harman’s Aha Radio.
With HondaLink, NPR programming is on demand and drivers can skip backward to past programs on the fly. In this way, HondaLink is perfect for podcast junkies, since they don’t have to update their device to get fresh programs. According to Charles Koch, Honda’s manager of new business development, Aha can offer “thousands of podcasts because they’re cloud-based on the Aha server,” as well as audio books through Librovox. “It’s a free service for now.”
Drivers can access Yelp by hitting a “Hungry” tab to find local restaurants, and the system converts Facebook and Twitter feeds using text-to-speech so that drivers can listen to them. The new Accord will include Pandora as an embedded application, a feature that launched earlier on the 2013 CR-V along with SMS text messaging. HondaLink debuted on the 2013 Accord when the ninth-generation became available in September, and it will eventually be rolled out to Honda’s entire U.S. line, says Koch.
HondaLink is standard on Accord EX-L and above sedans and EX and above coupes. It will likely be implemented into many more Hondas as new models are released. It works through a proprietary HondaLink app that Aha developed for iOS and Android devices, which connect to the car via Bluetooth or USB. Drivers control Aha Radio content through the new Accord’s 8-inch center-mounted touchscreen and a smaller 6-inch touchscreen lower in the dash that work in tandem. The smaller screen also allows access to Aha Radio when the larger screen is being used, say, for navigation. Some features can also be accessed via steering-wheel and voice controls. 17th Annual Senior Citizens' Picnic a Success

This year’s theme for the picnic was “It’s a Hoedown!”. There were plenty of activities for everyone to participate in. Included at the picnic was a chicken barbeque lunch, musical entertainment, a horse drawn trolley, a live birds of prey educational program by Tamarack Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, bingo, build your own sundaes and craft sessions.
Attending this year’s picnic were 290 Senior Citizens, with 110 of them receiving gifts from bingo or the grand finale door prize give-away.
Nancy Agostine, who helped participate in the planning of this year’s picnic, had one goal for Summit’s picnic: “To honor our oldest residents and to provide a venue for social interaction at which old friendships can be renewed and new ones formed.”
It was a pleasure being able to help sponsor such a great event. The entire staff was excited to hear about the picnic’s success!

Mourning a Civic Legend

The rustbucket known throughout the neighborhood as “Bluey” (despite the almost complete lack of original sky blue paint) finally went to the great parking lot in the sky Saturday with the odometer pinned at more than 170,000 miles.
Ettling donned a suit and top hat to lead the funeral march on Seaman Avenue near the corner of 207th St., where his pride and joy was loaded onto a flatbed truck for its last ride — to the junkyard. A bouquet of flowers adorned Bluey's discolored hood.
"Everybody in the neighborhood knows this car," Ettling said. "People have come up to me and said, 'Ever since I was a little toddler, I've been seeing this car on the street.' And that's a beautiful thing. I think in that way, Bluey's influence and his impact on the neighborhood and his memory, if not him, will certainly live on for many years to come, if not, forever. Bluey's journey to hunk-of-junk began soon after Ettling bought her. "It got totaled along with three other parked cars on Fort Washington Avenue,” he said.
Bluey was also turned upside down in the Washington Heights riots in 1992, but Bluey was back on the road after $1,500 in repairs.
Along the way, the car became increasingly decrepit — and increasingly beloved.
"It became a neighborhood icon,” he said. “There wasn't a day that went by that some kids didn't stop by and get their picture taken by my car."
One major issue finally drove Bluey off the road: "I was afraid my feet would go through the floor from the rust," Ettling said.
After a Dixieland band performed, New Orleans-style, Bluey was loaded onto the truck and Ettling's neighbors headed to the local bar for a final tribute to an old friend.
Someone yelled out if Ettling intended to buy a new set of wheels. "I'm not getting a new car," Ettling said. "I need time to heal." From thehondaportal.blogspot.com

2012 Honda CR-V Wins Cars.com Shoot Out
Cars.com announced today that the 2012 Honda CR-V is the winner of the Compact SUV Shootout. The shootout pitted six compact SUVs under $25,000 that also get at least a 30 mpg highway rating against each other in a series of tests.
"This was a competitive shootout of an important segment, and we were impressed with all of the vehicles," said Patrick Olsen, Cars.com editor-in-chief. "The winning Honda CR-V is a great choice for compact SUV shoppers because of its impressive lineup of standard features, great comfort and overall ride, all combined with Honda's history of strong reliability."
The Shootout featured testing by experts from Cars.com, USA Today and "MotorWeek." Additionally, a Chicago-based family tested these six vehicles to determine which one fit their needs of comfort, reliability and efficiency.
Vehicle testing included:
•A 200-mile drive ranging from urban streets to a wide-open interstate.
•Driving every vehicle by every expert over the same course to test for overall ride, handling, acceleration & braking.
•One day of testing by a family in the market for a new vehicle; they joined the experts to give their impressions on the six compact SUVs.
"With fuel efficiency and affordability becoming top of mind for many car shoppers, the compact SUV segment is quickly becoming one of the most popular categories," said Olsen. "Not only does every vehicle we tested get a minimum of 30 mpg, but the segment in general is becoming more affordable than ever and coming with an impressive lineup of standard features." Other vehicles tested included the 2012 Chevrolet Equinox, 2013 Ford Escape, 2012 Hyundai Tucson, 2013 Mazda CX-5 and 2012 Kia Sportage. From: finance.yahoo.com

Gonzo - Bianchi Honda's Pet of the Month

A solution is possible and starts with each of us taking one small step: getting our own pets spayed or neutered. To help stop pet overpopulation further, consider adopting your next pet from an animal shelter.
Bianchi Honda cares about animals, and proudly supports the efforts of the local animal shelters including the A.N.N.A. Shelter and the Humane Society. As animal lovers, we like to do our part by featuring a "Pet In Need" each month in our newsletter.

A Green Victory

The 2nd Annual Cars.com Golf Tournament was held on June 20th at The Country Club in Meadville, PA. Twelve other local dealerships participated, but it was Bianchi Honda that ended up taking home the victory.
Our team consisted of four Bianchi Honda employees: Jason Porreco - GSM, Ken Gushie - Business Manager, Alex Varzally - New Car Sales and Logan Sauer - Service Porter. All four are excellent golfers and they represented our store with pride. They had a lot of fun playing at the tournament and with the other dealers.
The entire staff offers their congratulations to Jason, Ken, Alex and Logan for a job well done. We look forward to next year’s tournament.

Bianchi Honda Blue Jackets Go 8-0

Unsure of what Dek Hockey is? It is also known as ball or street hockey. It isn’t played on skates, but sneakers instead. They play on asphalt that has been marked just like a hockey rink would be. The Erie Dek Hockey League has groups for all ages ranging from age 5 to 50+.
The Bianchi Honda Blue Jackets are in the beginner league, which is coed and is a great league for children to learn the sport and how to work on a team.
Jax, one of the players on the Blue Jackets is the son of our Resale Manager, Sean Stone! He did a great job this year and we are all very proud of all the hard work Jax put into the season. Congratulations to everyone who participated and helped make it a winning season!

Vacation Interrupted

This is what happened to Camille McConnell and her family. While on their way to Maryland, just two hours away from their destination, the family was rear-ended by a Ford E-250. Camille just purchased the 2012 Honda Pilot not even a week before the accident had occurred.
Everyone involved in the accident was safe including her two young sons. Camille was kind enough to share her story on Facebook with us.
She posted: “Jason, thanks again for sending me that letter about trading in my 2011 Pilot for a 2012. I am sure it could have been the same with the 2011, but you now have a spokesperson for how safe the 2012 Pilot is. On the road to Maryland today, 2 hours from our destination, we were rear-ended by a Ford E-250 that did not notice that traffic had slowed. The whole back of our truck was destroyed. All five of it's passengers walked away, including my 1 and 4 year old boys. Only bumps and bruises.”
Everyone at our dealership is so thankful that the entire family was able to walk away free of any serious injury. Camille’s mother, Mary DiTullio, took the time to share her thanks that the Pilot helped save her daughter and her family’s lives. “Thanks Jason and everyone at Bianchi Honda for providing quality cars.”
We take great pride in the Honda brand and the top-of-the-line safety that each vehicle provides. The 2012 Honda Pilot was named a “2012 Top Safety Pick” by the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS).

NOTES:
Hi, my name is Bella. I am an adult spayed female Yorkshire Terrier mix. I am a lovable little girl but I wasn’t always this friendly. I was found in an abandoned house, my owner left and never came back for me. I was full of fleas, dirty and terrified of everything. Now that I have been here for a couple weeks I have really begun to come out of my shell. I love people that I know but it takes me a while to warm up to new people. I am looking for a quiet and patient home that will help me learn that all people are nice and that I don’t need to be afraid. Once I am comfortable with someone, I love to cuddle and be pet. I would do best in a home without children where I can just relax and be pampered.

5 Biggest Mistakes in Pet Travel

The beginning of summer marks a difficult time for your car. It needs extra attention to keep extreme heat from damaging its engine, battery and other parts. Overheating is also a common and deadly hazard for pets traveling in cars.
The potential dangers of traveling with pets are getting more attention for a couple of reasons. The sluggish economy has made relatively frugal road trips more popular. Since cars tend to be more pet-friendly than some other forms of transportation, more people are taking their dogs, cats and other animals with them.
“People tend to say, ‘Hey, let’s take along the dog or cat,’” says Katherine Miller, an animal behaviorist with the ASPCA. But people often do not realize how stressful travel can be for animals who are not used to it, she says. The ASPCA has the following five mistakes to avoid to help keep the journey fun and safe for you and your pet.

5 BIGGEST MISTAKES IN PET TRAVEL
1) Leaving your pet in a parked car. Even when it doesn’t seem so hot outside the temperature inside a car can quickly rise past 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Contrary to common assumptions, opening windows a bit for ventilation doesn’t help much and leaving a pet unattended in a car can be dangerous even if it’s only for a few minutes.2) Allowing your pet to ride with its head outside the window even though some dogs seem to love doing it. The dangers are many, from inner-ear damage to injuries from flying debris.
3) Forgetting to keep animals secured in the car inside a ventilated animal crate or in a pet-safety harness. Pets should not be allowed to romp all over the car because they could distract the driver and this can lead to accidents.
4) Forgetting to bring your own water in plastic containers. This is preferable to relying on water fountains and other unreliable sources along the way.
5) Feeding pets in a moving vehicle. Instead feed them light meals three or so hours before hitting the road.
You can get more information and additional tips on pet safety and care at www.aspca.org.
