Winter Auto Maintenance Checklist

These winter maintenance jobs will keep you and your car out of trouble.

Check your antifreeze: Your antifreeze is an essential part of your car's winter protection. Your car contains a 50/50 mix of water and antifreeze. Make sure the level is full and the mixture is close to 50/50.

Inspect your tires: Winter is not the time to get cheap about your tires, so take the time to check the tread depth. Also, be sure to check your tire pressure. Believe it or not, they lose a little pressure when it gets cold, so pump 'em up.

Replace your wipers: Fog, snow and rain will cut down your visibility in winter. Make sure wipers are in top shape to keep your windshield clean and safe.

Inspect your brakes: Brakes are not a good area to cut corners. Be sure your brakes have enough meat left to get you through the season.

Check your battery: Winter puts more stress on your battery, particularly if you park your car outdoors.

Cold weather safety should be a concern for anybody living in a cold climate. These tips will give you the upper hand when Old Man Winter tries to put a chill on your winter travels.

Couple only suffers minor injuries in major accident

“Thank Honda” is all Francine Miller could say as she and her husband Jim waited for an ambulance to arrive at the scene of the accident.  By looking at the wreckage, passersby might have thought that the passengers walked away with more than just some scrapes, bruises, and a broken foot.
Thanks to the ACE body design, the structure of a CR-V helps spread out the forces of a frontal collision to help avoid concentrated impacted forces that can cause serious injuries.
“It is beyond me how anyone could feel as safe as I felt in that car after the accident happened,” said Francine.
Fortunately for the Millers, the combination of seatbelts, the CR-V design, and a little luck, they suffered only minor injuries.  The team at the Bianchi and the Millers are grateful for how the situation turned out. Just ask Jim--He hit the links for 18 holes of golf shortly after the collision.

Siri Meets Honda

American Honda announced it will integrate support for Siri, the intelligent assistant that helps you get things done just by asking, into its 2013 Honda Accord as a dealer installed option. Later this year, owners with a compatible iPhone running iOS 6 can direct Siri to perform a number of specific tasks while they safely keep their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel. Using Eyes Free mode, Siri takes hands-free functionality even further and minimizes distractions even more by keeping your iOS device's screen from lighting up.

"iPhone has become so integral to people's lives that they continue to use them in their vehicles," said Vicki Poponi, assistant vice president of automobile product planning, American Honda. "Offering Honda owners Siri and its Eyes Free mode via Bluetooth is an incredible opportunity to provide next-generation connectivity and meet our customer's ever-changing needs."

Honda recognizes the power of Siri and Eyes Free mode as an in-vehicle tool that will help meet the connectivity and convenience needs of its customers in a responsible manner. Honda has reengineered its software to seamlessly integrate Siri Eyes Free mode into its Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink® via the onboard microphone and speakers. From Honda.com

Why are we called "Bianchi" Honda?

It starts with the founding of Porreco Motors, by Louis J. Porreco, in 1968 ...

Bianchi Honda was initially established in 1971 by a gentleman named Enrico Bianchi, aka “Hank.” Hank ran the business under the name “Bianchi Honda” for 21 years. In 1992, Hank was diagnosed with a serious illness and became unable to manage the dealership effectively. Realizing he needed a senior partner to help operate the Honda store, he called on long-time friend and neighboring auto dealer, Lou Porreco who purchased controlling interest in 1992. Hank passed in April of 1994 and Lou Porreco purchased the balance of Bianchi Honda from the Estate and consolidated it with Porreco Motors. The merged entity became Bianchi Motors, Inc. d/b/a Bianchi Honda.

Lou Porreco kept the name Bianchi Honda due to the fact that the company had already achieved an outstanding reputation for customer satisfaction and product service. Bianchi Honda has had three different locations over the years, with all three being along Peach Street in Erie.
The commitment of Lou Porreco and the Bianchi Honda team to good principals of business ethics were reflected in 2006 when the Better Business Bureau awarded the dealership the “Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics.” This was a huge milestone in the car industry and showed our commitment to honesty and integrity. We are also the recipients of the prestigious Honda Presidents Award for the 14th time! Only one other dealership in the entire nation has received this award more than us.

Bianchi Honda, and the entire Porreco family, have been committed to avoiding outrageous, exaggerated, and/or unclear sales promotions which could cause consumer confusion. They are always working toward doing the right thing by presenting products and services at easy-to-understand, fair values. As a result of this and help from our valued customers, Bianchi Honda has just been confirmed as The #1 Selling Honda Dealer in all of Pennsylvania for 2012.
