The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has named the Civic Sedan a "2012 Top Safety Pick." IIHS rates vehicles good, acceptable, marginal or poor based on performance in front and side crash tests, a rollover test, and evaluations of seat/head restraints for protection against neck injuries in rear impacts. To earn Top Safety Pick for 2012, a vehicle must have good ratings in all four Institute tests.
The 2012 Honda Civic was named Best Resale Value for a Compact Car by Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com. Depreciation (or loss of value) is typically a car buyer's primary expense during ownership. Taking resale value into account can help drivers save money in the long run. Kelley Blue Book® Residual Values are projected based on market conditions for each vehicle, competition within vehicle segments, expectations of the future economy and combined experience of Kelley Blue Book's residual analysts.

Honda has won the first ever Edmunds.com Best Retained Value Award for Non-Luxury Brands. In addition, four Honda models won model-level 2011 Edmunds.com Best Retained Value Awards. Having a clear idea about a car's future resale value is an important part of the car-buying process, and Honda is proud to be recognized for how well our vehicles hold their value over time.

Honda has a long history of environmental leadership, including the introduction of America's first mass-produced hybrid, the [original] Honda Insight, and the first vehicle to meet California's Low-Emission Vehicle standards, 1996 Civic well in advance of regulatory requirements. Acknowledgment of our commitment to innovation can be seen by Honda's topping the rankings as the country's greenest automaker by the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS)—for the fifth consecutive year[1].

The 2012 Honda Civic has been named one of About.com's Best New Cars of 2012. About.com's Aaron Gold called the 2012 Civic "…hands-down the most comprehensive compact car on the market." Gold was also impressed with the many Civic choices: "You can get a sedan or a coupe; a high-fuel-efficiency version; a high-performance version; a leather-lined version; a hybrid version; even an alternative-fuel version that runs on clean natural gas. And whichever Civic you choose, you're virtually guaranteed years of trouble-free motoring."

Bianchi Honda Presents CPR Manikins

Saint Mary’s Home of Erie and Sisters of St. Joseph of Northwestern Pennsylvania were recipients of CPR Manikins to help improve overall first aid and CPR training for their staff. Each well deserving cause was presented their manikins by Jason Porreco; General Sales Manager at Bianchi Honda and Matt Rhodes; Western Region Manager for the Pennsylvania Automotive Association.

Bianchi has worked with PAA and the National Automotive Dealers Charitable Foundation to present these great learning tools to Saint Mary’s and Sisters of St. Joseph.

CPR is an incredibly useful and basic safety procedure that everyone should have the opportunity to learn. We want to provide those in need the ability to do just that. We hope that both Saint Mary’s and Sister’s of St. Joseph will find their respective manikins useful and be able to have many of their staff members and associates become certified in CPR.

Employee Spotlight for June - Jim Westgate

Jim Westgate - OEM Honda Parts Specialist
We sat down with one of our most tenured employees and asked him a few questions about his work and life.

Q. It’s your 30th anniversary this month! What is your favorite thing about working here?
A. It has been a pleasure working with such a great group of people for the last 30 years. I enjoyed being a technician, but I really like the customer service end of working in the Parts Department.

Q. How did you get into cars and why did you choose Bianchi Honda?
A. I was always very mechanical. I obtained my inspection license and was lucky enough to get a job at Bianchi Honda.

Q. What is one thing people are surprised to find out about you?

A. I enjoy cooking like making soups from scratch and my famous meatloaf. My favorite meals to cook are on the holidays like Thanksgiving and Easter. My homemade pies are great too!

Q. What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
A. Being with my family and grandkids (I have four). I enjoy my classic car, a 1970 Chevelle, and I love going to car shows. My wife and I recently passed the motorcycle training course and we both bought motorcycles. We found we really enjoy riding and ride often with our son David!

Niles is June's Pet of the Month

Four million cats and dogs—about one every eight seconds—are put down in U.S. shelters each year. Often these animals are the offspring of cherished family pets. Spay/neuter is a proven way to reduce pet overpopulation, ensuring that every pet has a family to love them.  Many cats and dogs who die as a result of pet overpopulation could have made wonderful pets.
A solution is possible and starts with each of us taking one small step: getting our own pets spayed or neutered. To help stop pet overpopulation further, consider adopting your next pet from an animal shelter.

Bianchi Honda cares about animals, and proudly supports the efforts of the local animal shelters including the A.N.N.A. Shelter and the Humane Society.  As animal lovers, we like to do our part by featuring a "Pet In Need" each month in our newsletter.

This month's PET IN NEED (Pictured at right):

Honda's Biggest Fans...

Our Community InvolvementOn April 25th, Bianchi Honda welcomed J.S. Wilson Middle School’s class #5 for a field trip of the dealership. Tom Robinson, the Prep Manager, conducted a tour to show the students how we work on a daily basis.

Alexis, Mike, Collin, Sarah, Anderson, and David (who happen to be Honda’s biggest fans) started off in our new, state-of-the-art prep building to learn how the cars are properly cleaned, detailed and then polished with our Auto Butler machines. The class then went on to observe our hard-working technicians in the service viewing area. After exploring the different types of Hondas in the showroom, a complementary pizza party was thrown and each student was provided with a Honda hat to wrap up their trip.

It was a blast having the class visit us! Thank you Ms. Romines, Mrs. Lopatynski, Ms. Soltis, Ms. Lutz, Mr. Boyer and Mrs. Romeo for bringing the class up for the trip. It was a pleasure to have you here.
